Scholastic Journalism Division HeadThe August AEJMC convention is just around the corner, and our division has an outstanding program for you this year. The major theme will be reflecting on 25 years of Hazelwood, and we are happy to have both Cathy Kuhlmeier Frey of that decision and Mary Beth Tinker of Tinker v. Des Moines involved in this year’s conference.
The conference is Aug. 7-11 at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel in Washington, D.C. (999 Ninth Street N.W.).
The conference will start with the Capital Teach-In on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and conclude with our research conference presentations on Saturday, Aug. 10. The Honors Lecture will be given Friday evening by 2013 honoree Karen Flowers of the University of South Carolina. Awards for research will be given to Bruce Konkle of South Carolina and Meredith Clark of UNC-Chapel Hill. The Dave Adams teaching award will be given to Monica Hill, the director of the North Carolina Scholastic Media Association at UNC-CH.
