As graduate liaisons for the Mass Communication and Society division, our job is to help graduate students learn more about the division and to communicate those suggestions to the rest of the division. We also contribute to the division’s newsletter and review submissions for division awards.
There are many ways that you, as a graduate student, can get involved with the division. You can become a member under a reduced student rate. You also can submit papers to the division for the midwinter and annual conferences, through which you would be eligible for a number of awards with top student paper recognitions. In addition, graduate students are eligible for five of our division awards: The Promising Professors Award (teaching-related award), the Dissertation Award, the Research Award and Top Paper Award (research-related awards), as well as the Graduate Travel Award. All come with award recognition plaques and monetary prizes. For more information about membership and awards, please see the other sections of this site. More information about the conferences will be available as the deadlines approach.
If you are a graduate student interested in getting involved, or if you have any questions, feel free to email either of us. We are excited to be serving you this year, and we look forward to being in touch.
