Call for Multimedia Contest

ICD Student International Multimedia News Story Contest, AEJMC 2018

Deadline: April 6, 2018

The International Communication Division (ICD) of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) is pleased to announce the Student International Multimedia News Story Contest for the year 2018. The contest is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty submissions are welcomed; however, the first writer/author should be a student.

  • ​Entries must be nonfiction, journalistic stories with multimedia support, on a topic related to an international issue. 
  • The news story should have an international angle on a local story, or it can be an international story with a local angle. 
  • It should be a written story completed by a student as a class assignment and published on the website of a university, news media outlet, or blog, while the student was enrolled in a school any time between April 7, 2017 and April 6, 2018.
  • Stories will be evaluated on such criteria as topic originality, news value, idea relevance, journalistic merit, and multimedia support. 
  • ​​The story, as well as the multimedia support, should be authored/executed by the same author/s​

Rules

​(1) A student may submit one multimedia news story to the contest.
(2) All elements of the multimedia news story (defined as journalistic, written, and online story supported by multimedia elements such as Flash, photography, audio, and/or video) should be authored/executed by the same author/s.
(3) The completed entry form (one per submission) must be signed by a faculty member, attesting to the originality of the multimedia news story and the accuracy of the information provided. The faculty member will have to attest that the story is posted or had earlier been posted on a website, and provide the correct URL.
(4) Submit a PDF copy of the story via email to <dhossain@southalabama.edu>, along with the completed entry form. In the form, mention the story’s correct URL.


Awards

Cash awards of $250, $200, and $150 will be given to the top three entries. In addition, the winners will receive certificates.
